Evergreen Theatre 2010 opener - James Keelaghan

Last Saturday marked the 2010 season’s opening for the Evergreen with a show by Juno Award winning James Keelaghan, who has been called Canada’s finest singer-songwriter. (Quick link to gallery.)

James opened his performance with a comment that the last time he was at the Evergreen there was no heat and no sound. On this occasion the sound was excellent, the theatre was warm, colourful with the newly expanded photo gallery (see post below this one) and filled with an audience keen to be there for this exciting start to the year. James Keelaghan delivered an impressive performance, filling the theatre with his powerful voice and songs. We heard some old favourites - “Harvest Train” and the tragic “Hillcrest Mine” as well as many that feature on his new CD, “House of Cards”, including the beautiful “Safe Home” and the wonderfully onomatopoeic “Twister”.

The gallery here features the title track from that CD. Enjoy!

Thanks for such a great season opener, James!

Evergreen Theatre Wall of Fame

For the start of the new Evergreen Theatre year (James Keelaghan is opening the season for us tomorrow night), we have decided to add new prints to the ‘wall of fame’ or ‘rogues gallery’ of past performers. To give you a taste of what you will see in the way of large prints framed on the wall of the theatre (and at the request of some of our followers who are too far away to see for themselves) we are putting small pics of each of the new prints.
Enjoy!

The prints you see here will be joining ones we already have on the walls - Jill Barber, Chris Norman and Boxwood and Doc MacLean.

It was difficult to choose which images to print when there have been so many excellent performers and images over the years. With a limited number we could print, we narrowed our choices and picked those that show the diversity in the performances at this venue, images that we felt were strong and featured both well known names and lesser known.

We look forward to seeing you at the Evergreen Theatre in Margaretsville where you can see more of the same quality performances.
